One of my favorite things about living in Tampa Bay is how much people genuinely care about giving back.
Whether you're passionate about mentoring, mental health, helping animals, or fighting food insecurity, there is no shortage of incredible organizations making a real impact across our community.
The hard part isn't finding a nonprofit—it's deciding where to invest your time and energy.
Before we dive into my favorites, I want to share one piece of advice.
Remember: Your Time Is Valuable Too
When people think about supporting nonprofits, they usually think about donations.
While financial gifts are incredibly important, they're far from the only way to make a difference.
Many nonprofits desperately need volunteers, mentors, committee members, event staff, photographers, marketers, accountants, coaches, and people simply willing to show up consistently to donate their time.
If you're not in a season where you can give financially, don't underestimate the value of your time, skills, or network.
My next biggest recommendation is simple:
Choose a cause that genuinely means something to you.
Maybe that's:
Animal welfare
Mental health
Neurodivergence advocacy
Women's empowerment
Addiction recovery
Homelessness
Youth mentorship
Foster care
Food insecurity
Veterans
Environmental conservation
When you're passionate about the mission, volunteering never feels like an obligation—it becomes something you look forward to.
Tampa Bay Nonprofits I Recommend:
Focus: Female empowerment, education, mentorship

PACE is one of the organizations closest to my heart.
PACE Center for Girls serves girls who are navigating significant challenges that can impact their education, confidence, and future opportunities. Many of the girls they support have experienced circumstances such as teenage pregnancy, family incarceration, substance abuse within their households, trauma, and other systemic barriers that can make traditional educational environments difficult to navigate.
The reality is that many students need more than academics—they need a safe space, individualized support, mentorship, and someone who believes in them.
PACE provides an alternative learning environment that meets girls where they are. Their approach combines education, counseling, and personal development to help students overcome barriers while building confidence and life skills. By creating a supportive environment tailored to each girl's unique experience, PACE helps students stay engaged in their education and work toward graduation and future success.
These young women are not statistics—they are future leaders, professionals, mothers, entrepreneurs, and community members. PACE gives them the tools, support, and belief system they need to write a different story for themselves.
Focus: Foster care, child welfare, youth empowerment
Every child deserves a safe place to call home and the opportunity to build a successful future.
While both organizations support children impacted by the foster care system, they do so in different ways.
Madi's Movement helps young adults aging out of foster care transition into independent adulthood by providing mentorship, education, employment resources, and life skills.
Joshua House Foundation provides emergency shelter and residential care for abused, neglected, and abandoned children, offering safety, stability, and hope during some of life's most difficult moments.
As someone who has family members that have been directly adopted out of the foster care system, this is a cause that's extremely important to me.
Together, these organizations demonstrate that supporting foster youth isn't just about providing immediate care—it's about creating a home that builds lifelong success.

Ibis is the combination of two extremely reputable community health centers with longstanding history in Tampa Bay — Gracepoint Wellness and Cove Behavioral Health.
Mental health and substance use challenges impact individuals, families, and entire communities, yet many people still face barriers when trying to access care. Whether it's stigma, financial limitations, lack of resources, or simply not knowing where to turn, seeking help can feel overwhelming. Because of this, Mental Health has become one of America's biggest health crises and most important conversations in healthcare.
Ibis Healthcare works to improve access to behavioral health services, addiction recovery, crisis intervention, primary care, housing assistance, and community wellness programs for individuals and families.
As someone who openly talks about anxiety and has seen first-hand how substance abuse disorders impact families and loved ones, this mission resonates deeply with me.
Focus: Youth mentorship, confidence building, leadership development
Sometimes the greatest impact we can have on someone's life is simply showing up.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay is built on the belief that every child deserves a consistent adult mentor who believes in them. While many children have loving families and support systems, others lack positive role models to help guide them through important stages of life.
Mentorship may seem simple, but its impact is powerful. Having someone who listens, encourages, and helps a child see their own potential can influence confidence, decision-making, academic success, and future goals.
What I love most about this organization is that you don't need to have all the answers to make a difference. You simply need to be willing to invest your time, share your experiences, and show up for someone who needs a positive influence in their life.
I've never spoken with anyone who regrets becoming a Big Brother or a Big Sister.
Focus: Youth development, education, leadership, and safe spaces for children

As more and more families require two full-time incomes to be financially stable, after-school programs are not simply a convenience—they are a critical resource.
With that said, children need safe environments where they can learn, build relationships, explore their interests, and develop the skills they need for the future after school.
The Boys & Girls Clubs provides a safe after school space for children, while offering academic support, leadership development, athletics, and life skills.
They're quite literally helping shape tomorrow's leaders every single day and it's incredibly impressive to see the young adults that come out of their programs.
Focus: Animal welfare, rescue, adoption, and community care
Animal lovers—this one's for you!
I think I speak for everyone when I say our pets are more than animals—they are family and a source of unconditional love — and for us Millennials, they are literally our children.
The Humane Society of Tampa Bay works to protect animals through rescue, adoption, veterinary services, and community education.
But their impact goes beyond finding homes for pets—they help create a more compassionate community for both animals and the people who love them.
Animal welfare is deeply connected to overall wellness. Pets provide companionship, emotional support, routine, and connection, which can have a meaningful impact on mental and emotional health.
Beyond pet adoptions, the Humane Society provides affordable veterinary care, rescues animals in need, and relies heavily on volunteers to support its mission.
Also, if you're specifically a cat lover, I can’t go without a special shout out to Cats & Caffeine, where we adopted our own little girls!

Focus: Domestic violence prevention, survivor support
The Spring provides emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and long-term support for survivors of domestic violence.
This is one of the more personal organizations to me on this list.
It's not something I talk about often or ever publicly, but I know what it's like to be in a relationship you feel like you can't leave. It's one of the loneliest and scariest places a woman can find herself, and no one deserves to feel trapped or believe they have nowhere to turn.
Organizations like The Spring do so much more than provide shelter—they provide a lifeline. They remind women that they are not alone, that there is a path forward, and that someone is ready to help when they're ready to take that first step.
I truly believe it's up to all of us to help change the conversation around domestic violence. That means speaking up, supporting survivors without judgment, holding abusers accountable for their behavior, and ensuring resources like The Spring continue to exist. They don't just change lives—they save them.
Focus: Senior wellness, nutrition, caregiving, food security

Living in Florida means many of us have parents, grandparents, neighbors, or friends who are aging in place. In fact, Florida has one of the nation's largest populations of older adults. As our communities continue to age, the need for compassionate support only grows.
Experts often say that nearly everyone will become a caregiver at some point in their lives—whether it's for a parent, spouse, family member, friend, or even a neighbor. Caregiving can be one of the most meaningful roles we take on, but it can also be physically, emotionally, and financially demanding.
That's why organizations like Meals on Wheels are so important.
Meals on Wheels of Tampa delivers nutritious meals to homebound seniors, veterans, and neighbors with disabilities, helping them maintain their independence while easing some of the burden on caregivers. But the impact extends far beyond the meal itself.
For some recipients, the volunteer delivering their lunch may be the only person they speak to that day. That brief visit becomes a friendly conversation, a wellness check, and a reminder that someone in the community cares about them.
Focus: Homelessness, community support, food security
Homelessness is a complex issue that impacts individuals and families in every community. While housing is a critical need, true restoration often requires more than a place to sleep—it requires connection, resources, encouragement, and a community willing to walk alongside people during difficult seasons.
Revive & Restore is dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness by providing resources, support, and opportunities designed to help people rebuild stability and move toward a healthier future.
Every person deserves to be seen as more than their circumstances, and meaningful change often begins when someone feels supported and valued.
Final Thoughts
Giving back doesn't require having a huge paycheck.
It simply requires showing up.
Whether you volunteer once a month, mentor one child, foster one animal, donate a few dollars, or attend a fundraising event, your contribution matters.
Tampa Bay is filled with organizations changing lives every single day. My hope is that this list inspires you to find one whose mission speaks to your heart and become part of the incredible work they're doing.
Because at the end of the day, building a healthier community isn't just about nutrition, fitness, or wellness.
It's about taking care of each other.
