5 Things Currently Bringing Me Joy

We are all drowning in products right now. Every scroll on social media is somebody's "holy grail," every ad swears it'll change your life, and half of it ends up in a drawer within a month, quietly judging you. So instead of adding to the noise, I decided to actually sit down and make a list of what's earned a permanent spot in my routine lately. Some of these are business, some are personal, none of them are sponsored, and all of them are things I genuinely use enough to talk about unprompted.

Here is my current top 5.

1. My planner. Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats a good planner. This particular one works for Type A's and Type B's alike, which feels like it shouldn't be possible, but here we are. It's got daily, weekly, and monthly spreads, stickers, color coding, and separate sections for personal and business goals, so you can pretend your whole life is organized even on the days it absolutely is not. I've recommended this exact planner to more people than I can count, and every single one of them has come back a convert. I've used this same one for two years running, and I have zero plans to switch. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

2. My gratitude journal. I'm not totally sure why, but this year in particular I caught myself comparing my life to everyone else's more than usual. There's something about hitting your 30s that makes every disparity between you and the people around you suddenly very visible. So, I started needing a reminder to focus on what I do have instead of what I don't. I've tried to become "a journaler" probably five separate times in my life and failed every single time, so I went in with low expectations. But this one only takes a few minutes morning and night, and I keep it sitting right next to my coffee maker and vitamins so I physically cannot pretend I forgot. It's quietly been rewiring my brain toward positive thinking instead of negative self-talk, and I did not expect a five-minute habit to pull that much weight.

3. My walking pad. It is somehow October and somehow still ninety degrees outside. On top of this, by the time it cools down, it's going to be dark at 5pm and my neighborhood is not well lit. I work out in the evenings, and on the nights I'm stuck working late, there simply isn't time to get to the gym, make dinner, and still be in bed at a reasonable hour. Enter the walking pad. I set it up in front of the TV, throw on some Bala Bangles, and walk for 30 minutes while catching up on whatever show is my current obsession. It's become the "no excuses" option for the days I just need to move my body a little after being glued to a desk, and it has quietly become one of my favorite at home workouts.

4. A french clip. This sounds ridiculous, I'm aware. But I have become genuinely obsessed with french clip updos. While I'm working, I cannot have hair in my face, but I also cannot stand the weird kinks that regular clips and bows leave behind. I spotted a french clip at Marshalls on a whim, and it has fully taken over my hair routine. There are endless ways to style one, and it works on basically any length or hair type. Girls, this is your sign. Ten out of ten, no notes.

5. Speaking of the girlies, these Medicube face masks. You've definitely seen them all over your feed by now. Salmon DNA facials are having a full moment, and these masks are a genuinely affordable way to get that effect at home without booking a medspa appointment. I've been doing them once a week for about two months, and I actually look forward to it, which says a lot for a skincare step. There's something weirdly satisfying about watching the product turn clear as it absorbs into your skin, the smell is lovely, and my skin looks noticeably more glowy afterward. Not to brag, but I've been getting a lot of compliments on my skin lately, and I genuinely think part of that is this mask combined with the serum it pairs with.

And that's my current top 5. Nothing groundbreaking, nothing life-altering, just a handful of small things that have made my days a little brighter and my routine a little more fun. Here's hoping at least one of them earns a spot in yours too!
